Who publishes this
Minnesota Injury Guide is written and published by Madgett Law, LLC, a Minnesota law firm in downtown Minneapolis. There is no separate company behind the name.
The short version
David J.S. Madgett writes it. He is licensed to practise law in Minnesota, licence #390494, and the firm is at IDS Center, 80 South 8th Street, Suite 1650, Minneapolis, MN 55402. The site is attorney advertising, it says so on every page, and the firm would like to be called by people who have been hurt. None of that is hidden, and none of it is the interesting part.
Why it has its own name
Because the two things are doing different jobs. A firm website is about a firm: who works there, what it handles, why you might hire it. This is a reference work about one body of Minnesota law, organised around a reader's problem rather than around a practice group, and it is easier to write that way when the page is not also a brochure.
A neutral name stops being honest the moment a reader cannot tell who is talking. So the disclosure is not left to editorial diligence. The firm's legal name appears on every page of this site, the responsible attorney and licence number and street address appear in every footer, and the automated gate that runs before each deployment fails the build if any of them is missing from any page. That is checked, not intended.
Why it exists
Almost everything an injured person finds in the first week is advertising. That is not a complaint about competitors; it is a description of what ranks. The result is that the most consequential decisions — whether to give a recorded statement, which insurer pays first, what a signature on a release gives up, how long there really is — get made from material written to generate a phone call rather than to be correct.
This site is the other thing. Where the received wisdom is incomplete, the page says so and quotes the provision that settles it. Corrections are the product, not a caveat on it.
What it will not do
- No case results, verdicts, or settlement figures. They are the most persuasive and least informative thing an injury site can publish, because the number belongs to someone else's injuries, coverage, and venue.
- No estimate of what your claim is worth. Not on a page, not by a calculator, not in a reply to the form.
- No referral fees, in either direction. Nothing here is sold and no one pays to appear.
- No countdowns, badges, testimonials, star ratings, or sticky call bars. The reader has already had their emergency; the site does not need to manufacture another one.
- No tracking. No analytics, no cookies, nothing loaded from a third party. See privacy, which describes what the code does rather than what we intend.
How it is paid for
By the firm, out of the firm. The site earns nothing directly. It exists because some of the people who read it will eventually want a lawyer, and some of those will call this one. That is the whole business model and there is no reason to be coy about it.
